Privacy Policy
Last updated: January 30, 2026
WeightSnap ("we," "our," or "us"), operated by Tyler Brown, is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the WeightSnap mobile application.
Summary
The short version: Your data stays on your device. We don't have accounts, we don't have servers storing your personal information, and we don't sell your data. The only external service we use is for AI-powered coaching insights, and that data is processed but not stored.
Information We Collect
Data Stored Locally on Your Device
WeightSnap stores all of the following information locally on your device only:
- Weight entries: Your weight measurements and the dates you logged them
- Progress photos: Photos you take or select within the app
- Body measurements: Any measurement annotations you add to photos
- Profile information: Name, height, biological sex, and preferences you provide during setup
- App settings: Your preferences for units, themes, notifications, and features
This data is stored using Apple's SwiftData framework and remains on your iPhone. We do not have access to this data, and it is not transmitted to any servers we operate.
Apple Health Integration
If you choose to enable Apple Health integration, WeightSnap can:
- Read: Weight data from Apple Health to import historical entries
- Write: Weight entries you create in WeightSnap to Apple Health (if you enable this option)
This data exchange happens entirely on your device between WeightSnap and Apple Health. We do not receive or store any Health data on external servers. You can enable or disable Health integration at any time in Settings.
AI Coaching Feature
When you use the AI coaching feature to get personalized insights:
- Your weight data and relevant profile information (name, height, goals) are sent to our AI processing service
- This data is processed by Anthropic's Claude AI to generate your coaching insights
- The data is used only to generate your response and is not stored after processing
- Progress photos are never sent to the AI service
You can use WeightSnap without ever using the AI coaching feature if you prefer to keep all data entirely on your device.
Information We Do NOT Collect
We want to be explicit about what we don't do:
- We do not require you to create an account
- We do not collect your email address (unless you contact us for support)
- We do not track your location
- We do not use analytics SDKs that track your behavior
- We do not serve advertisements
- We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties
- We do not have access to your progress photos
How We Use Your Information
The information stored locally on your device is used to:
- Display your weight history and progress
- Create before/after comparisons
- Calculate trends, streaks, and milestones
- Personalize your experience based on your preferences
When you use AI coaching, your data is used solely to generate personalized insights for that specific request.
Data Storage and Security
All personal data is stored locally on your device using Apple's secure storage frameworks. Your data is protected by your device's security features, including:
- Device passcode/Face ID/Touch ID
- iOS data protection and encryption
- App sandboxing
We recommend keeping your device updated and using a strong passcode to protect your data.
Data Sharing
WeightSnap includes features that let you share your progress:
- Before/after comparison images
- Progress photos with stats overlays
- AI coaching insights
When you use these sharing features, you are choosing to share that specific content through your device's standard sharing options (social media, messaging, etc.). We do not automatically share anything on your behalf.
Third-Party Services
WeightSnap uses the following third-party services:
- Anthropic (Claude AI): Powers the AI coaching feature. Data sent for processing is subject to Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
- Apple HealthKit: For health data integration, subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
Data Retention and Deletion
Your data remains on your device until you delete it. You can delete your data at any time:
- Individual entries: Swipe to delete any weight entry
- All data: Use Settings → Reset All Data to delete everything
- Uninstall: Deleting the app removes all local data
Since we don't store your data on our servers, there's nothing for us to delete on our end.
Children's Privacy
WeightSnap is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can address the situation.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Significant changes may also be communicated through the app.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information, including:
- The right to access your data (it's all on your device)
- The right to delete your data (available in Settings)
- The right to export your data (share features let you export)
- The right to opt out of AI processing (simply don't use the AI coaching feature)

California Residents
If you are a California resident, you have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). Since we do not sell personal information and store data locally on your device, most CCPA provisions do not apply. However, you retain the right to know what data we process (detailed above) and to request deletion of any data we may have received through support communications.
European Users
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Since your data is stored locally on your device and we do not maintain user accounts or databases, you maintain full control over your personal data. For AI coaching features, the legal basis for processing is your consent (by choosing to use the feature).
